Sneaky Sh!t
Here is a one time shot at a truly unique workshop!
Based on Bruce Lee's admonition that an attack should be felt
before it is seen,
you will explore how to hide sucker punches - using knives, found
weapons, unarmed
and, time permitting, swords - from the character/victims until
they "feel" it.
Sometimes the sucker punch is a blatant attack.
Other times, they are "accidentally on purpose."
Other aspects that will be explored are the some of the components
of MJ's class Personal
Violence: The Duel vs. the Ambush. This is based on Marc "Animal"
MacYoung's
unpublished article on the Five Uses of the Knife. He has graciously
given MJ permission
to use his article as a basis of Personal Violence. MJ will also
be referencing
Kurt Kraven's "101 Sucker Punches" and "Dirty Fighting"
by Andy Puzyr.
An understanding of basic stage combat is needed. If you have
training in knife and
swords (rapier, rapier and dagger, small sword, single-handed
Asian swords, etc.),
so much the better. The main component, however, that each participant
must bring
to Sneaky Sh!t is the subtlety of the acting needed to pull it
off, successfully,
for the audience to believe you.
